Israel says it targeted military sites on Iranian soil

TEHRAN - Israel has confirmed launching strikes on military sites in Iran, marking a significant escalation of tensions in the region after over a year of unabated violence in Gaza and Lebanon.

In a video statement released early Saturday morning, Israeli military spokesman Daniel Hagari stated that the regime "is conducting precise strikes on military targets in Iran." He declined to specify the targets or weapons used, but said that Israel's "defensive and offensive capabilities are fully mobilized."

Iranian officials have yet to issue any statements regarding the strikes. 

Civilians in western Tehran and parts of nearby Karaj reported hearing explosions, but footage has yet to show any immediate aftermath of the alleged Israeli assaults.
