During a press conference on Tuesday, Jahangir addressed remarks made by the German government concerning Sharmahd's trial, reinforcing that Iran's judiciary operates independently and remains resolute against foreign interference in its legal matters.

“It is our judicial prerogative to prosecute crimes perpetrated by our own citizens; however, we also possess the authority to adjudicate and penalize non-Iranian individuals who engage in criminal activities within our territory,” he emphasized.

Iran’s Judiciary prosecuted Jamshid Sharmahd as an Iranian citizen due to his involvement in terrorist activities, the spokesperson added.

Sharmahd received a death sentence in February for the crime of "corrupting on earth," stemming from his role in orchestrating multiple terrorist attacks against the Iranian people. He was apprehended by Iranian authorities in 2020.

A particularly notable attack occurred in 2008 at a religious congregation center in Shiraz, Fars Province, resulting in the heartbreaking deaths of 14 innocent civilians and injuries to hundreds more. Following his capture, Sharmahd confessed to supplying explosives for the devastating bombing.
