'Israel-backed terrorists threaten Iran, Pakistan’: Araghchi
TEHRAN – In a recent interview with PTV World Channel, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi emphasized that Iran views all terrorist activities along its border with Pakistan as being supported by foreign entities, particularly the Israeli regime.
He noted the disturbing concurrence between recent terrorist incidents and ongoing Israeli aggression towards Iran.
Araghchi specifically highlighted the role of the Jaish ul-Adl group, which carried out a deadly attack on October 26 in Taftan, Sistan-Baluchestan, killing 10 Iranian officers.
Araghchi expressed Iran’s concern over the growing number of attacks, linking these incidents to what he described as broader Israeli aggression toward Iran.
He emphasized Iran’s view that any terrorist threat to Pakistan is also a threat to Iran, and stressed the need for stronger counterterrorism coordination between the two countries.
The Iranian Foreign Minister emphasized the commitment of both nations to fight terrorism and protect their border security, but suggested that coordination between their efforts needs enhancement.
During a recent visit to Pakistan, Araghchi met with officials, including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, to discuss regional security and bilateral relations.
He commended Pakistan’s strong condemnation of Israeli actions, calling it “heartwarming,” and reiterated the importance of maintaining a united front against foreign interference.
The foreign minister also touched on Iran’s membership in BRICS, underscoring the organization’s goal of reshaping international political and financial systems that, he said, are dominated by Western interests.
On the Kashmir issue, Araghchi reaffirmed Iran's commitment to supporting Muslim communities worldwide, condemning the use of force against them.
