Iran’s military chief warns of blitzkrieg offensive against US
TEHRAN — Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi, Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, has formally announced a pivotal transformation in the nation’s military strategy, declaring that the Islamic Republic has shifted to an “offensive doctrine” designed to deliver lightning, sustained, and unpredictable strikes to the enemies.

Speaking during a late-night inspection of military readiness on Sunday, the top commander emphasized that the era of mere defense has evolved into an active deterrence posture based on “asymmetric and crushing” strategies that bypass all Western military calculations.
“Following the 12-day war and the continued mischievous provocations by the American-Zionist axis, we have revised the nation’s defense doctrine,” Mousavi stated.
Warning that the accounts of previous conflicts remain unsettled, he said the armed forces are now more motivated than ever.
“Even the smallest error by the enemy will open our hands for a decisive strike. The world will see a different face of a strong Iran; then no American will be safe, and the regional fire will consume the United States and its associates,” Mousavi declared.
The general dismissed Western narratives of “Iranian weakness,” asserting that those who promoted such falsehoods must now “either retract their claims or prepare to receive the regional slap of Iran’s power.”
He described the Islamic Republic as a vast, geopolitically unassailable power, noting that talk of a naval blockade is a sign of geographic ignorance.
“Iran is not swallowable,” he remarked, adding that if conflict breaks out, the “men and women of resistance” will cleanse the region of foreign footprints through resolute action.
This strategic pivot aligns with recent directives from the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, who warned on Sunday that any U.S.-led aggression would inevitably ignite a comprehensive regional war.
Adding to this atmosphere, Brigadier General Kioumars Heydari, Deputy Commander of the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, cautioned on Monday that it is in Washington's best interest to behave “rationally” toward the Islamic Republic.
Heydari emphasized that any “miscalculation” by U.S. forces would be met with a “coercive and highly regrettable” response, noting that the presence of a “predatory enemy” in the region necessitates logical behavior to avoid further escalation.
Iranian officials have consistently warned that any military attack by the U.S. or its allies will be met with a swift and decisive response.
Expansion of intelligence oversight
In a separate message on Monday addressed to Intelligence Minister Esmail Khatib, General Mousavi hailed the role of Iran’s intelligence community in the ongoing “cognitive and information war” against the country’s adversaries.
He emphasized that the nation remains indebted to the vigilance and heroism of these operatives, whose silent sacrifices have consistently derailed the “complex and interconnected plots” of foreign security services.
According to the commander, the sophisticated maneuvers of the enemy have yielded “nothing but failure, desperation, and disgrace” when confronted by Iranian intelligence prowess.
Mousavi expressed his firm confidence that the ministry would continue to expand its “umbrella of intelligence oversight” over the overt and covert activities of foreign espionage agencies.
He reaffirmed that the systematic dismantling of terrorist groups and their “hired mercenaries” remains a top priority, ensuring that the Islamic Republic remains insulated from the subversive schemes of its adversaries.
