New UK, Irish ambassadors present credentials to Iranian FM
TEHRAN – On Monday, the newly appointed ambassadors of the United Kingdom and Ireland submitted copies of their credentials to Iran's Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi.
Hugo Benedict Shorter, the new UK Ambassador in Tehran, met with Araghchi at the outset of his diplomatic mission in Iran, where he presented a copy of his credentials.
Hugo Benedict Shorter has held various positions within the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office, including Chargé d'Affaires ad interim at the UK Mission to Afghanistan, director for the Americas and Small Island Developing States, head of the Europe Directorate (External), and deputy head of Mission in Brazil. He has taken over the role from Simon Shercliff.
On the same day, Lisha Teresa Moore Dorichek, the new Irish ambassador in Tehran, also presented her credentials to Araghchi.
Lisha Teresa Moore Dorichek has served as a politician within the Irish Department of Foreign Affairs.
The presentation of credentials signifies the commencement of the ambassadors' official diplomatic roles in Iran and heralds a new phase in the bilateral relations between the nations.
