Minister of Cultural Heritage, UNESCO official emphasize necessity of joint convergence
TEHRAN—Iran’s Minister of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts Reza Salehi-Amiri and Secretary-General of Iran’s National Commission for UNESCO Hassan Fartousi emphasized the necessity of joint convergence and efforts to strengthen the position of the country's cultural and civilizational heritage in the regional and international arena.

According to dolat.ir, in a meeting, which took place on Sunday at the premises of the National Commission for UNESCO in Iran, Fartousi welcomed Salehi-Amiri and presented a report on the missions, programs and current activities of the National Commission for UNESCO.
Referring to the common areas of mission of the Cultural Heritage Ministry and the UNESCO National Commission, Fartousi emphasized the importance of organizing interactions, strengthening joint cooperation and further cooperation between the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and the UNESCO National Commission.
He also referred to the membership of Salehi-Amiri as a legal member of the Supreme Council of the National Commission for UNESCO in Iran, and considered the potential to be a suitable ground for coordination and advancing common goals.
During the meeting, the issue of UNESCO international conventions and the need to pay serious attention to the obligations and requirements arising from the conventions, especially in the field of cultural heritage, was discussed and reviewed.
Fartousi also emphasized the importance of relaunching and activating national committees related to the field of cultural heritage and utilizing their specialized capacities to achieve UNESCO's goals.
Also, Salehi-Amiri emphasized the importance of the role of the UNESCO National Commission in advancing the country's cultural diplomacy.
He announced the ministry's full support for the programs and activities of the UNESCO National Commission in Iran, and emphasized its full readiness to expand cooperation in common areas, especially cultural heritage.
He continued by appreciating the efforts and effective presence of the Iranian UNESCO National Commission at the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, and considered the recognition of the Cyrus Cylinder: An Early Charter of Human Rights and Cultural Diversity as a valuable achievement of the glory of Iranian culture and civilization.
Other issues raised in the meeting included the attention to the activities of national committees related to cultural heritage, as well as Memory of the World Committee, and the valuable cooperation between the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts and the UNESCO National Commission.
They emphasized coordination and full attention in advancing the country's major goals in the field of cultural heritage and issues related to the UNESCO.
