Japan hopes to develop bilateral relations with Iran: PM

TEHRAN- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan announced that Fumio Kishida had a telephone conversation with the Iranian president-elect in which the two sides expressed their desire to develop bilateral relations.

According to the announcement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, Prime Minister Fumio Kishida had a telephone conversation with Masoud Pezeshkian, on July 22. During this conversation, Prime Minister Kishida expressed his intention to cooperate in further developing Japan-Iran relations, based on their long-standing friendly relations. 

Furthermore, the Prime Minister of Japan emphasized Iran’s active role in the region in creating peace and stability, especially in the current events in West Asia, and asked the Pezeshkian to play a more constructive role in resolving regional crises.

Pezeshkian also expressed his desire to strengthen relations with Japan and declared that strategic alignment in resolving Iran’s nuclear program is one of the priorities for developing bilateral relations with Japan in the 14th government.

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev also spoke over the phone with Pezeshkian. He congratulated him on his election win and emphasized Kazakhstan’s commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations.

According to ISNA, Tokayev and Pezeshkian had a phone conversation on Monday. Tokayev wished Pezeshkian success in this position.

Tokayev and Pezeshkian discussed the current situation and the prospects for developing cooperation between Tehran and Astana in the fields of trade, economy, transportation, logistics, culture, and humanitarian efforts, reaffirming their commitment to further strengthening the bilateral relations between Iran and Kazakhstan.
