TEHRAN - The joint naval exercise of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Russian Federation has come to an end with the departure of the Russian Navy’s helicopter carrier.

The joint maneuvers were held to boost cooperation, enhancing maritime security, and increasing operational coordination between the navies of the two countries.
The naval drill held in the Sea of Oman and northern Indian Ocean was conducted in line with expanding maritime diplomacy, military interactions and exchanging operational experiences.
Meanwhile, officials from both sides emphasized the need to move forward in the domain of maritime security and safety.
Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Kremlin spokesman Dimitry Peskov said that the joint drill had been planned long before the recent escalation of tensions between Tehran and Washington.
