According to IRNA, they paid a visit in line of making clear the dimensions of damages and emphasis on legal and behavioral responsibility of the global community regarding safeguarding the human heritage.

Alireza Izadi, director general for the registration and preservation of cultural heritage at the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, expressed regret over damages incurred to the sections of the global complex.

He said that Golestan Palace is part of the mankind’s historical memory. Any aggression to a historical site which doesn’t have any army application is an evidence to violation of legal commitments and aggression to a global cultural identity.

Pointing to the legal status of Golestan Palace in system of the international law, he said that safeguarding the cultural heritage during armed conflicts is a duty on basis of international conventions such as 1954 Hague Convention.

Also, Afarin Emami, director of the Golestan Palace World Heritage site, said that parts of the architectural decorations and mirrorwork of the palace cannot be replaced. The restoration process is a complex and specialized job which takes time, she added.
