China Red Cross to provide $200,000 for Iran elementary school victims

TEHRAN - The Red Cross Society of China has decided to provide the Iranian Red Crescent Society with $200,000 in emergency humanitarian assistance to support families of at least 175 people who were martyred after an U.S.-Israeli attack to an elementary school in Minab, southern Iran, on February 28.

China expresses deep condolences regarding the deaths of students in the recent attack on an Iranian elementary school and extends sincere sympathies to their families, Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said on Friday.

Attacking schools and harming civilians seriously violate international humanitarian law and cross the baseline of humanity and human conscience, he stressed.

Most of the martyrs were seven- to 12-year-old girls. The strike is the worst mass killing of the U.S. and Israel’s war on Iran so far – and has been described by UNESCO as a “grave violation” of international law.
