Over 1000 rescue teams provide relief services in three days

TEHRAN – 1009 rescue teams, consisting of 3651 rescuers, have provided relief services to individuals affected by the U.S.-Israeli war in four days, according to the Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS).

From March first to third, a total of 787 Iranians were martyred in 153 cities during some 1039 attacks on the country, the IRCS website reported.

According to the IRCS website, three aid workers ‎were targeted on March second by US-Israel airstrikes while conducting relief efforts.‎ The relief workers are currently reported to be in good general health.

During the 12-day war, five Iranian Red Crescent aid workers were martyred by direct attacks while rendering relief services to injured individuals in the Israeli airstrikes.

ICRC appreciates IRCS relief efforts in war ‎

Vincent Cassard, the representative of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), has announced the ICRC’s support for the relief efforts of the IRCS following the recent US-Israel airstrikes in the country.‎

During a Tuesday meeting with the head of the IRCS, Pirhossein Kolivand, at the Peace Building, Cassard stated that the violence over the past three days in the conflict, which has extended to encompass civilians, schools, and medical centers, has severely impacted them.

As an ICRC representative, the official declares that under international humanitarian law, civilians, schools, medical centers, and their personnel are entitled to protection from violence.

Recognizing that the Iranian Red Crescent is the primary emergency responder to the attacks, he said that, “As members of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, we fully appreciate and support their Iranian Red Crescent Society’s efforts.”
