The U.S. and Israel attacked Iran last Saturday and have so far martyred over 1,000 people. The attacks prompted a swift response from the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC), with missile and drone launches targeting Israel and several U.S. bases in the region, occurring less than two hours after the strikes, which have been intensified in recent days, ISNA reported.

“We were in the midst of documenting the historical, cultural, and civilizational glory and grandeur of the great and dear Iran in the series ‘Salman the Persian’ when the enemies of this land treacherously attacked Iran,” Mirbagheri wrote in his message.

“They martyred our wise, insightful, and courageous Leader, along with a group of dedicated soldiers and also girls and children, plunging us into mourning, and imposed a defensive and unavoidable battle upon the existence of dear Iran, from which, by relying on Almighty God and the perseverance of the great people of Iran, we shall emerge victorious from this demonic aggression,” he added.

On behalf of the cast and crew of the “Salman the Persian” project, Mirbagheri said: “Hail to the will of a nation that has come forth with its heartfelt empathy, and undoubtedly, their support and unity will be the final shot to the body of the aggressors”.

Davood Mirbagheri, 67, is an Iranian director, writer, and film producer. He is best known for his religious historical series including “Imam Ali (AS)” and “Mokhtarnameh”.

His upcoming series “Salman the Persian” deals with the life of Salman, a Persian religious scholar and one of the companions of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

As a practicing Zoroastrian, he dedicated much of his early life to studying to become a magus, after which he began travelling extensively throughout Western Asia to engage in constructive dialogue with non-Zoroastrian groups.

His quests eventually prompted his conversion to Christianity and later his conversion to Islam, which occurred after he met and befriended Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in the city of Medina. He became a prominent non-Arab companion and one of the Prophet’s closest friends.

After the demise of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in 632, Salman became closely associated with the Prophet's cousin and son-in-law Imam Ali (AS) and is claimed to have participated in the Muslim conquest of Persia, aiding the territorial expansion of the Rashidun Caliphate outside of the Arabian Peninsula.
