Culture minister expresses condolences for Ali Larijani’s martyrdom

According to ISNA, the text of Seyed Abbas Salehi's message is as follows:

“The news of the martyrdom of the distinguished scholar Ali Larijani, the faithful servant of the culture and thought of the Islamic Revolution, due to a terrorist and cowardly attack by the Zionist regime and the U.S., has grieved the hearts of all the people of Iran”.

“Martyr Larijani was one of the prominent figures in the fields of science, culture, and politics, and the memory of his days of service in the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance and the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting Organization will forever remain in the minds of the cultural, artistic, and media communities”.

“Those who knew Martyr Larijani closely know well that his years of struggle for the Islamic Republic of Iran would remain incomplete without the reward of martyrdom. Martyrdom is the reward for men who considered service not as a duty but as their faith, and who spared no effort in the path of dignity and truth. Undoubtedly, such descriptions befit the scholarly personality of someone like him”.

“Now, that mujahid has found peace beside the martyred Leader of the Revolution, his esteemed father-in-law, Martyr Morteza Motahhari, and his long-time martyred friends; and his name, like his works and thoughts, will remain immortal in the cultural memory of this land”.

“May the God of martyrs protect Iran and this land of the brave”.

Ali Larijani was assassinated by U.S.-Israeli strikes on Tehran on Tuesday alongside his son, Morteza.

Larijani was a seasoned Iranian politician. He held many important positions during his career, including Speaker of the Iranian Parliament and head of Iran’s national television network, IRIB. His latest tenure as Iran's security chief lasted for almost 9 months.

The U.S. and Israel attacked Iran on February 28 and have so far martyred over 1,000 people including the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and several military commanders as well as civilians, among them women and children.

The attacks prompted a swift response from the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC), with missile and drone launches targeting Israel and several U.S. bases in the region, occurring less than two hours after the strikes, which have been intensified in recent days.
