TEHRAN – Rescuers and volunteers at Helal Houses (community-based centers affiliated with the Iranian Red Crescent Society), play an important part in boosting social participation, an IRCS official has said.

The centers should reinforce infrastructures, continue teaching and developing skills, document activities, have effective interactions with local communities, IRNA quoted Hamid Dargahi as saying.

The official made the remarks on a field visit to a Helal House in Nir, northwestern Ardabil province, to oversees and assess current situations and activities of the centers, and identify their educational capacities during war.

“Providing rescue and relief services to travellers during Nowruz holidays, and those affected by the U.S.-Israeli war, and collecting humanitarian aid are among main responsibilities of the centers,” Dargahi noted.

On Friday, the head of the IRCS, Pirhossein Kolivand, announced that aid workers and rescuers will never leave people alone under any circumstances.

According to the official, the United States and Israel have so far attacked a total of 92,662 non-military units across the country including 20,399 businesses, and 61,356 houses. Some 30,990 of the damaged units were located in Tehran.

The violent attacks have severely damaged 290 medical, pharmaceutical, and emergency bases. More than 600 schools have been destroyed by the strikes directly or indirectly.

A total of 17 medical centers, 48 rescue vehicles, 46 ambulances, and three helicopters affiliated with the IRCS are destroyed.

Fourteen IRCS relief workers are wounded while performing their duties, and two are martyred.

So far, 240 women, 212 people under the age of 18 have been martyred. Among those wounded, 4,000 were women, and 1,621 were below 18.

Moreover, 23 medical workers, and 230 students and teachers have lost their lives, and 112 medical staff, and 177 students and teachers are wounded in airstrikes.
